This is a popular passage, most of us have heard it more than a few times. Even folks who don't go to church have probably heard this somewhere...in popular culture, in a movie, at a wedding...it's pretty well known. Matthew 4:1-11

This story comes at the beginning of Jesus' ministry. In the Gospel of Matthew we've heard the story of Jesus' birth, the visit of the magi, the holy family fleeing as refugees to Egypt, and then Jesus as an adult being baptized by his cousin John. And then after the baptism comes this story...Jesus spending 40 days in the desert for fasting and prayer, and then being tempted by the devil.

Stay In Love With God - June 10, 2018

Colossians 3:1-17

Sometimes when we hear these types of passages, we feel like someone is finger wagging at us. Do this. Don't do that. It hardly feels inspiring. It feels condemning and sometimes condescending. Sometimes we read too much into these passages or hold one another hostage, and sometimes we're dismissive and think "that's not me" and we move on. But there's a richness and a depth here that shouldn't be ignored. Paul is writing to the new church in Colossus. And he's trying to help them figure out the ways of faith. His writings are letters....responding to issues and needs within the church. Here it seems people are confused about what living in Christ might

  • Community event - "Love Your Neighbor"

    Community event - "Love Your Neighbor"

    Held at the East City Park On Thursday, August 2nd, 5pm-9pm. This event is a  chance four our church to practice command to "Love Your Neighbor" by sharing, food, fun, and fellowship. We want a chance four our neighbors to get to know us and know they matter to us. whether or not they come to worship. We will have food, games, and activities for all people and ages. and we'll get to share a little of ourselves and invite kids to VBS and all generations to our other ministries.

Sunday morning parking at the church is available in the high school parking lot on Third Street across from the church and in the city lots west of the church. These lots are available only on Sunday mornings. A small lot for handicapped parking is available just off of Adams Street on the north side of the church, with an accessible entrance directly into the sanctuary. A lift operates between the Fellowship Hall (3rd Street level) and the Sanctuary . William Sound System Receivers and Headsets are available to assist with hearing problems.
